Gas Introduction
Nitrogen-15N2 is an isotope of nitrogen with the molecular formula 15N2.
The nitrogen-15 isotope gas is mainly used in fields such as nuclear magnetic resonance, biological isotope labeling, and protein macromolecular structure research.
Due to the lack of suitable radioactive isotope tracer atoms for nitrogen, nitrogen-15 has become an important tracer atom in research fields such as chemistry, medicine, and agricultural science.
The purity specification of nitrogen-15 isotope gas is an abundance of 99%, the product category is isotope gas, and the packaging is usually gas bags or high-pressure carbon steel cylinders.
This gas accounts for about 78% of the atmosphere, is slightly soluble in water and alcohol, is non flammable, and is considered a suffocating gas.
Nitrogen has two stable isotopes, N14 and N15. Relative abundance in air N14-99.635; N15-0.365, with a N14/N15 ratio of 273 and very stable.
Therefore, the nitrogen isotope ratio in air is usually used as a comparison standard for the nitrogen isotope composition of samples. The δ N15 in natural gas is generally between -6.0 ‰ and -12 ‰, which is lower than that in crude oil.
The study of nitrogen isotopes has just begun in the field of petroleum geology.
