Gas Introduction
Methane is a non-polar molecule with a tetrahedral structure and is the simplest organic compound. Methane, as the main component of conventional natural gas, shale gas, combustible ice, etc., is a very important carbon based resource. It is a major non CO2 greenhouse gas, and in the stratosphere, methane is broken down into water vapor (clouds), leading to the destruction of the ozone layer.
Under normal atmospheric pressure, the lower explosive limit (LEL) of methane is 5-6%, and the upper explosive limit (UEL) is 15-16%; When the concentration of methane in the air reaches 9.5%, the strongest explosion occurs. Among them, the lower explosive limit does not change significantly when the oxygen concentration decreases, while the upper explosive limit decreases significantly; When the oxygen concentration is below 12%, the mixed gas loses its explosiveness.
