Gas Introduction
Difluoromethane is an organic compound with the chemical formula CH2F2. It is a colorless gas commonly used as a refrigerant and dry etching agent.
Difluoromethane is a coolant with zero ozone depletion potential. Difluoromethane and pentafluoroethane can form a constant boiling mixture (known as R-410A), which is used as a substitute for chlorofluorocarbons (also known as Freon) in new coolant systems, mainly replacing HCFC-22 as a refrigerant for mixed refrigerants at medium and low temperatures. Although it has zero ozone depletion potential, it has a high global warming potential, with a potential 550 times that of carbon dioxide every 100 years.
