Gas Introduction
Octafluorocyclobutane is an organic compound with the chemical formula C4F8. It is commonly used in food and media gases in daily life. Under normal conditions, octafluorocyclobutane does not react with other substances, but when the temperature reaches 600 ℃, it decomposes into carbon and tetrafluoride, as well as some toxic compounds. Moreover, while it raises the temperature, the metal can also catalyze the decomposition of octafluorocyclobutane, so it is still necessary to be very careful when using it.
Octafluorocyclobutane is colorless, odorless, non-toxic, and non flammable gas at room temperature and pressure, but it is easily liquefied. When cast iron and stainless steel are used satisfactorily at 120 ℃, octafluorocyclobutane can be used. However, at 400 ℃, due to slight changes in nickel alloy, nickel, and platinum, these metals will have varying degrees of catalytic effect on the decomposition of octafluorocyclobutane at 500 ℃.
