Gas Introduction
Krypton gas is a rare gas that is colorless, odorless, non-toxic, and inert. Krypton gas is concentrated in the atmosphere. It occupies 1.1ppm in the atmosphere. Boiling point -153.35 ℃, the content of krypton in the atmosphere is extremely low (trace, 1.14 × 10-6 by volume). It cannot burn or support combustion. Capable of absorbing X-rays. The relative density of gas is 3.736 (-152.9 ℃), and the relative density of liquid is 2.155. Melting point -156.6 ℃, boiling point (-152.3 ± 1.0) ℃. Critical temperature -63.81 ℃, critical pressure 55 × 105Pa. Has properties such as high density, low thermal conductivity, and high transmittance.
Krypton gas is widely used in the electronics industry, electric light source industry, as well as in gas lasers and plasma streams. Compared with argon filled bulbs of the same power, bulbs filled with pure krypton gas have the advantages of high luminous efficiency, small size, long lifespan, and energy saving. Widely used in the manufacture of mining lamps, due to its particularly high transmittance, it can be used to manufacture illumination lights for off-road vehicles during night battles and runway indicator lights for airplanes. Used in healthcare to measure cerebral blood flow. Its isotopes can be used as tracers. Radioactive krypton can be used for leak detection of sealed containers and continuous measurement of material thickness, and can also be used to make atomic lamps that do not require electrical energy. In addition, Kr-86 is used for international benchmark calibration of length, while Kr-85 is used for “krypton” treatment of materials.
